ST. LOUIS—To help advance myopia management as a standard of care, the World Council of Optometry (WCO) is partnering with CooperVision, a leader in myopia management, to introduce an interactive and educational resource for eyecare practitioners worldwide, the organizations announced. The WCO CooperVision Myopia Management Navigator examines three areas of myopia management: mitigation, measurement, and management, according to the announcement. Each of the three sections of the Navigator is linked to various elements of content and includes advice and practical actions to explore in the form of “Myopia Moments," webinars and other offerings.

Safilo Shareholders Approve 2023 Financial Statements; Angelo Trocchia Continues as CEO

PADUA, Italy—Safilo Group S.p.A. (SFLG.MI) has announced that shareholders have approved the company's 2023 financial statements and the board of directors’ report during their annual meeting yesterday, and viewed consolidated financial statements. In addition, a new board of directors was appointed, and as its first action confirmed that Angelo Trocchia, who has served as chief executive officer since April 2018, would continue in this role. Eugenio Razelli has been named chairman of the board of directors, according to the announcement, and director Jeffrey A. Cole is no longer serving on the board.

The National Average for Gross Revenue at ECP Locations Increased for the Week of April 15–21, Jobson’s Latest Practice Performance Tracker Shows

NEW YORK—The national average for gross revenue at ECP locations increased last week, April 15–21, when compared with the previous week at a rate of 7 index points. That places gross revenue at a level 4 index points above where it was at this point in time (Week 16) when compared with last year (2023), 17 points above the same period in 2022, 14 points above 2021, 107 points above 2020 (during COVID) and 22 points above 2019, according to Jobson’s most recent Practice Performance Tracker.

Kering Eyewear Sales Grow in First Quarter, Group’s Revenue Declines Sharply

PARIS—Kering Eyewear, part of the global luxury group Kering, has reported revenue of €463 million in the first quarter of 2024, up 8 percent on a comparable basis. Overall, revenue from the Kering Eyewear and Corporate segment amounted to €536 million, up 24 percent as reported and up 9 percent on a comparable basis, the company announced. However, Kering Group’s revenue for the first quarter of 2024 was down 11 percent as reported and down 10 percent on a comparable basis to €4.5 billion, the company reported. The revenue drop includes a negative currency effect of 3 percent and a positive scope effect of 2 percent, resulting from the consolidation of Creed.

Prevent Blindness, Vision Ireland and the TAD Foundation to Host 2nd Annual New York Golf Classic on May 20

CHICAGO—Prevent Blindness, a nonprofit eye health and safety organization, Vision Ireland, a nonprofit national sight loss agency, and the TAD Foundation, dedicated to increasing employment for the blind and low vision community, have announced that the 2nd Annual New York Golf Classic will be held at the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Monday, May 20, 2024. Wykagyl is challenging for the expert golfer yet playable and enjoyable for the novice, and it is ranked one of the top 100 golf courses in the U.S., according to the announcement.
